No way I've ever seen for sure. Heard of people using older non pats PCM. I did tie a chip out of a key to my receiver in my sable for the remote start but it was a pain to make work.

The PATs needs Ford's magic computer programmer and someone that knows how to run it now to restore your PATs. That was also back in the OBD-II transition where things got very strange. Be sure thay have the exact right part number key for your car too. The wrong type of key won't work and they all look the same. Pushing the brake without the key in the ignition doesn’t kill the truck. Hitting the remote start button 3 times won’t shut it off. Even the door lock button on the remote won’t work. I have to pull the fuel pump fuse to kill the truck. Then my lights and heater are stuck on and won’t go off, nor can I start the truck.
